THE PAST
From a classic seaside town called Scarborough, Kyle started his journey locked in his bedroom, armed with a stack of vinyl spending many hours on the 1210’s, practicing the art of beat matching. Using this skill he went on to teach teenagers at a local youth club. Before he even attempted to use new age DJ technology, he wanted to be able to say "YES I USED VINYL". Not a lot of DJ’s his age can use that statement. He got his black belt in beat matching, now it's time for the future! Getting his first job in a local nightclub glass collecting, it didn’t take long before he was on the decks. This is where he started to get grips with the Pioneer magic, effects units and DJM 800 mixer. After a while, he started to put on quite a show, and more and more punters showed up on a weekly basis….. Kyle Rees was here to stay! Kyle’s first gig out of his comfort zone was for a newly formed night called Palooza. It had only been running a few months. Resident Symon Elliott invited him to play the first hour which was labelled “In New DJ’s We DON’T Trust” giving new bedroom DJ’s a chance to prove themselves. Kyle only ever did the warm up set once, he filled the dance floor quicker than any other DJ did and kept them there! He was invited back a few months later again and again.
But his journey did not stop there, he has won competitions to play for festivals, opened up the Hard Arena for Clubland in Scarborough and had most recently warmed up for the Hard House legend that is Andy Farley. He likes to lock himself away, homing in on his technical skills, continuing to adapt to the digital age and is now creating 4 track live mashups on his pioneer DDJ1000!! He likes to mix things up when it comes to both performance and style, he is truly unique. The energy he shows on stage along side the musical journey he takes you on is next level, he likes to bring you up, drop you down and then take you sideways. Taking you on a hell of a ride floating between genres flawlessly, without you noticing playing the likes of… House, Minimal, Funky, Bouncy, Psy Trance and D&B just to name a few.
